Wild Life! – Year 2 to Year 4 – Summer 2023

We are running a new afterschool club for children in Year 2, 3 and 4
Wild Life will incorporate elements of Forest Schools, bushcraft and conservation, enabling children to play, explore and learn in our woodland site.
The club will run over 8 session on the following Friday evenings from 3 – 5.30 pm:
- Friday 28th April
- Friday 12th May
- Friday 19th May
- Friday 9th June
- Friday 16th June
- Friday 23rd June
- Friday 30th June
- Friday 7th July
We are able to collect children from Longtown School at 3 pm and have children from other schools dropped off between 3pm and 3.30pm in the courtyard.
Children should be collected from the courtyard of Longtown Outdoor Learning Centre NB. not the school at 5.30 pm.
There are 8 sessions this term at £8.50 per session with the option for parents to make an additional voluntary contribution of £1.50 per session towards the Trust’s work with disadvantaged children. Our Bursary fund is available if you would like to apply for financial assistance of up to 30% of this fee – if so, please complete and return the bursary application form here and email it to: firstname.lastname@example.org
Parents should collect their children from the Courtyard of Longtown Outdoor Learning Centre (through passageway from the car park) not the school at 5.30pm.
All the activities are run in accordance with the Centre’s Risk Management procedures and Adventurous Activities License.
Please note that the weather in the local hills can be very changeable and kit list items are mandatory. Provided it is safe, the club will go ahead whatever the weather although a substitute activity or venue may be used.
To get the most out of the club children should commit themselves to the club and aim to attend all the planned sessions.
Kit List for Wild Life!
- Warm trousers e.g. tracksuit bottoms (not jeans) or leggings
- T-shirt / Long sleeved top
- Warm fleece / Hoody
- A waterproof jacket
- Waterproof over-trousers (These can be provided if you don’t have them)
- Packed tea
- Bottle of water
- Any medication e.g. asthma inhaler
- Small rucksack (a larger school bag is ideal)
